Newest Marketing Trend: Larger Than Life

JANUARY 13, 2016 | SAN DIEGO, CA

On October 26, 2015, Halo fans around the world flocked to Microsoft stores for the release of the video game series’ 5th installment, ‘Halo 5: Guardians’. GMR Marketing, a global experiential marketing agency, was brought in by Microsoft to create an in store experience for the highly anticipated launch. As part of the special celebration, GMR approached ACME to build larger than life Master Chief helmet sculptures that would be featured in several Microsoft stores in North America.

ACME was both honored and excited to work with GMR on this high-level product release. Producing 10 large-scale sculptures in the Halo character’s exact essence was a fabrication challenge ACME was eager to solve.

The final sculptures were created using advanced computer aided machinery and were finished out with a 4 part distressed paint job and a die cut graphic on the back side. The 48” tall by 42” wide by 30” deep helmets were mounted to a metal base, rising seven feet off of the ground. One of the biggest challenges of the job was providing a turnkey roll out that could be set up by in store personnel, requiring some advanced logistical planning on ACME’s part.

You may have spotted GMR and ACME’s work in Microsoft stores in North America from San Diego to their newest NYC Flagship store in Manhattan on 5th AVE.
