A Salute to Homegrown Athletes

MARCH 30, 2017 | PORTLAND, OR

The new salute to ‘Homegrown Athletes’ featured at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon is a symbol of the newly-expanded partnership between the Portland Trail Blazers and Fred Meyer Stores. ACME was awarded this design-build project, and the exciting opportunity of bringing the ‘Homegrown Athletes’ concept to fruition.

The entire installation covers the walls of a 68-foot escalator, leading guests through a visual experience as they climb. The hero of the exhibit are the jersey trees that display 85 basketball jerseys from around the state of Oregon and Southwest Washington in individual wooden and glass boxes, grouped together geographically.

This project allowed for #teamacme to display the breadth of our in-house capabilities, including design, engineering, fabrication, project services, and installation. We are a team with an incredible amount of passion, seeking to tell our client’s story through the language of color, texture, shapes, materials, and movement. As a local company, it was a privilege for ACME to be a part of this special project, celebrating homegrown athletes and the continued partnership between the Trail Blazers and Fred Meyer Stores, two local and homegrown companies.
