ACME had a big start to 2020 celebrating and supporting our local community!

We celebrated National Mentoring Month by prepping for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest (BBBS) Gala, Ignite the Power of Youth. It was an honor and privilege to partner with BBBS again this year by providing event production and fabrication for their event. The Gala is BBBS’s biggest annual fundraiser in support of their organization and their efforts to mentor children facing adversity. The event, held February 8 at The Redd on Salmon, was an absolute success and they surpassed their goal thanks to the generosity of so many! The Gala wouldn’t have been possible without some truly amazing partners including Henry V, PVS Graphics, and Greenlight Creative. During the same weekend, we participated in the Portland Winter Light Festival (PDXWLF). PDXWLF is Portland’s premier outdoor winter arts event that transforms, illuminates, and animates the nighttime landscape. This FREE event is designed to inspire both adults and kids through the combination of art and technology. It was our third year participating as an artist in the festival and we had a blast speaking with all the festival goers and watching them interact with our installations.

We brought back the ever popular Lite Brite Remastered for its third year in the festival. The life-sized Lite Brite, standing at 6 feet tall and 8 feet wide, functions through tactile interaction. This interactive installation allows participants creative power and offers a nostalgic moment for most as a recreation of a classic game. We also introduced a new piece, the Transforming Tic Tac Toe! The life-sized Tic Tac Toe allows participants to be fully active without ever having to physically touch the game. With the swipe of a hand in front of a sensor, housed in each individual game piece, participants can make their move on the board by lighting up an X or O. Thank you to all that visited, we’ll see you in 2021!
