ACME CARES

SEPTEMBER 13, 2021 | PORTLAND, OR

Quarter Three Community Efforts

As Quarter Three is wrapping up, we reflect on our contributions to the community and what we’re looking to achieve by the end of the year.

ACME Cares is the center to our community outreach program, reminding us of our service to the Portland community. The goal has always been to provide opportunities for the youth in Portland. The future is dependent on the leaders we make today, so we make sure those leaders are prepared to handle whatever.

Student graduations began in May and June. After a difficult year of adjusting to changes, students look forward to a sense of normalcy, welcoming the ability to celebrate their achievements.

This year’s graduations needed adjustments for health concerns, and we were happy to help. Graduations are important milestones for the youth, and it’s important that we try and show our appreciation for their hard work.

We look forward to next year and being able to provide more assistance in graduation ceremonies. We will always stand with the youth in their accomplishments and development into strong leaders of tomorrow.

Camp Naumanu welcomed campers back with a surprise: a newly renovated Welcome Center-Store.

During the winter break, Camp Naumanu reflected on what was needed in their camp. One thing was a need for a Welcome Center; a place where incoming families could become acquainted with staff and the camp. To maximize space, the Camp felt that combining the retail space with the new Welcome Center would provide the best value for the space available.

ACME donated tables, hangers, and services to help Camp Naumanu achieve their vision. The staff was grateful for the assistance and were able to restock inventory and prepare for incoming campers before the Summer opening.

Camp Naumanu looks forward to being able to provide campers and families more opportunities to explore the story behind the camp and a space where they can see what makes this camp special.

Big Brother Big Sister NW has been looking forward to a strong year and being able to provide more opportunities for the youth.

ACME is participating in the annual BBBS Rappel for a Reason fundraising event; this event helps support fundraising efforts for BBBS by offering applicants the chance to rappel from a 200-ft building in downtown Portland. Each applicant is challenged to raise $1,500 towards supporting the BBBS effort, and matching a Little with a Big mentor.

Dan Carter is representing ACME, and looking to raise more than last year. He said his experience last year working with a Little was incredible and wants to be able to provide the same opportunity for other Little’s on the waiting list. With each $1,500 raised, another Little is able to build a strong foundation of support for the future.

If you’re interested in supporting BBBS on their cause, please donate at the fundraising page, or share with family and friends. Supporting the development of the youth is always something we have to be mindful of, and it is through the support of everyone that we can continue the endeavor.

Rappel for a Reason is an important event for BBBS, and if there is ever an event to support, this would be the perfect time.

Looking at Quarter Four, we are excited for upcoming events for the holidays.

We aim to be mindful of each organizations needs and concerns, and listen for opportunities to support.  Outside of our annual contributions, we look for other opportunities within the Portland community to help support.

We thank you for taking the time to read our update on ACME Cares, and ask for you to keep us new initiatives that could use our support; our goal is be a place that gives back what we put in.

Be sure to check out all of the organizations mentioned in this article today, each of them a key player in the development of Portland:
